Day in the Life of...

So, here's my addition to the Day in the Life of a Librarian meme :)

7:20AM awake and doing all the normal getting ready for work type activities.

9:00AM arrive at work, parking in the overflow parking lot. And lug the huge backpack full of brochures, library card applications and other booth paraphernalia to my desk (My next post will be all about the library skate night at Skate City so stay tuned!).

9:10AM have put all paraphernalia back in their proper places, head up to supervisor's office to discuss disgruntled weekend patron and majorly successful free skate night.

9:40AM Respond to emails. Discuss attitude with team member. All good.

9:50am Discover that our Summer Reading Evanced webpage has been hacked and now includes a link, "Cream Cheese." Ponders various punishments for hacker if discovered. Contacts IT. IT staffer with day off fixes link. Thank you! you rock!

9:55AM learns that Sky Sox, our local minor league baseball team is giving our summer reading program 6,000 additional tickets to be dispersed ASAP. Conundrum. Three days left in the summer reading program. How do I disperse 6,000 tickets that quickly!?!?! Will consult with teen services team tomorrow at meeting. Ooh!

10:00AM preps agenda and sends reminder emails for teen services meeting tomorrow.

10:30AM Tries to tackle team division for teen services 5 year plan responsibilities. Gets distracted by the Day in the Life of... project.

Noon: Lunch! Chipotle! Apparently two teens got into a physical fight in the East Teen Center while I was at lunch. They are hereby suspended until I meet with their parents.

1:00-3:00PM Reference desk shift. Discovers why there is white out covering one of the teen center study rooms. Teens are hereby suspended until I meet with their parents. While on desk, I consider why so many teens are acting irrationally this week. They must be getting antsy here at the end of the summer.

3:00-4:00PM Ask Colorado chat reference shift and 5 year plan meeting with teen services outreach librarian.

4:00-5:00PM continue 5 year plan meeting

5:00PM last Reference shift

6:00-7:30PM dinner, walk the puppy and chill.

7:30PM-9:30PM work on the book proposal and the CTLC website

9:30PM prep for tomorrow and off to bed :) Good night! Tomorrow I will be tackling the teen all-night lockin planning, Brainfuse commercial script, teen services meeting and summer-end summer reading survey!
